Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish
Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish is the original powdered cleaner trusted for tackling rust stains, tarnish, mineral deposits, soap scum, grease and stubborn marks on many hard, non-porous surfaces.
It has become especially popular in New Zealand for restoring shower glass, stainless steel sinks, cookware, taps, tiles and other hard surfaces that need more than an everyday spray cleaner.
Unlike chlorine bleach-based cleaners, BKF uses oxalic acid, mineral abrasive and surfactant to help break down rust, lime, tarnish and built-up grime. It is bleach-free, but still powerful, so always use it as directed and test first on delicate or unknown surfaces.

Customisable cleaning power
Because BKF is a powder, you can control the strength of the clean. Use a thicker paste for tougher stains, rust marks, mineral build-up and shower glass spots. Use a lighter slurry for everyday cleaning, stainless steel sinks, cookware and more delicate jobs.
For best results, keep the surface wet, rub gently with a damp cloth, sponge or suitable non-scratch pad, then rinse thoroughly within one minute of application. Do not let the product sit longer or scrub harder than necessary.

How to use BKF Cleanser & Polish
- Wet the surface first.
- Sprinkle a small amount of BKF onto the wet surface.
- Rub gently with a wet cloth, sponge or suitable non-scratch pad.
- Rinse thoroughly within one minute of application.
- Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
For stainless steel, rub in the direction of the grain where possible. Reapply if needed rather than leaving the product sitting for longer.
Caution
BKF is acidic and contains polishing compounds. It may etch, dull, scratch or discolour delicate surfaces if used incorrectly. Always test on a small, hidden area first, especially on fibreglass, plastics, anodised aluminium, brushed metal, coated surfaces or any surface you are unsure about.
Ingredients and safety
Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish is formulated with glass oxide abrasive, oxalic acid and surfactant.
- Do not ingest, inhale or get in eyes.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not mix with bleach, ammonia or other chemicals.
- For prolonged use or sensitive skin, wear gloves.
- Avoid breathing in powder dust. Wet the surface first and use in a well-ventilated area.
- If swallowed, contact a doctor or poison centre immediately.
- If product gets in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes.

Yaaaaayyy!!! A product that finally works! I have used so many different cleaners on my shower doors and none have been able to remove the build up until now! I also used it on my cooktop to remove burnt on food stains that have been unable to be shifted for a very long time. Too easy! Thank you, thank you, thank you 😊
Wasn't sure before hand how much of a difference it would make to bad lime build up over last 4 years, some up to 14 years, but after scrubbing and rinsing times 2-3 times had vast improvement. Not back to 100% like brand new with no marks but pretty close to it! Was pleasantly surprised at effectiveness and how well it worked, not just on glass but chrome fittings of bathroom as well. Will be using again for sure!
We have had 2 cleaners come in and tell us that they were unable to get stains out of our shower floor (ex rental 10+ years, it’s so yuck!) Ive bleached it and used everything I could think off. But wow. This is the best purchase ever!! 10 mins of scrubbing the shower floor with bar keepers friend and I’m amazed!! So worth it!!
The shower had a build up on the glass. A small amount of cleaning and it has come up like new. Best product I have used, also great for stainless steel.

I wish I had taken a before foto as well. You cannot even tell the pic is from.outside the shower. So clean you can't even see the glass😁. Chucking everything else out. This is a one man army for all cleaning jobs. Thanks

It's soooo shiny... I was going to throw out my 'stainless steel' shower caddy because it was rusting. And I was so gutted because it's awesome. I recently watched one of my favourite YouTubers https://youtu.be/BDTbB2OY51M and Nikkia was raving about Bar Keepers Friend. So I gave it a go... Well it exceeded my expectations, and the caddy looks better than new... And it was so easy!! Highly recommend
I finally found a product that works!! Done a quick 2 minute test to see if it works and I'm so happy! Didn't even need to scrub I can't believe it works. Only downfall is I bought the small can not the big. Thank you!!!
Our shower was really bad. I had tried loads of products and scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed with little to no results. I used bar keepers friend and yes, I still scrubbed, but this time got results. I don’t think this photo shows how good it is. I did only one glass panel at first so we could see the difference. It looked like someone had left the door open. Highly recommend bar keepers friend.
A good product that is more effective than anything else I’ve tried
This stuff is legitimately magic. I bought it because I wanted to try it out on my parents shower glass which they had previously tried all sorts of products that hadn’t worked and this cleared it completely!!

I am a first time user of this product. I was skeptical at first because I already bought so many products and nothing I have used has worked. I've check the website and read the reviews, and thought I'd give it a try. It's way more cheaper compared to other brands out there, so why not, right?! First , I tried it on my bath and it did get the old water marks and lime off. Then, I tried it on my old pots and pans, and it got cleaned as well. I am so happy! This is an excellent product and so easy to use. I highly recommend this product and I'd definitely buy bar keepers friend again.
Fair amount of elbow grease but worth the results!! I also used a razor blade glass scraper to get the hardest mineral off first which really helped.
After a good scrub it made everything clean and shiny. The only thing I would watch when using this stuff is that it was toxic to my dog who was with me when I was cleaning and was very sick afterwards for a few days. He didn't eat any of the product but it did affect him quite badly. I later found out that rhubarb is actually toxic to dogs, so don't use this stuff around your pets. Its a good cleaner though!

Great service to start with :-) but what an excellent product ! I saw "Bar Keepers Friend" on a you tube video for easily and quickly cleaning aquarium tanks of calcium and mineral build up on glass and it works a treat ! I got sooo excited/impressed with using it that I went on to clean bench surfaces, shower etc ... awesome !
