Cleaning Grout with Bar Keepers Friend

Cleaning the grout can make a huge difference to the appearance of your tiles. With Bar Keepers Friend and a tough bristle brush you’ll be ready to give your grout a much needed touch up. However, please note Bar Keepers Friend is not recommended on coloured grout.*

I know, I know you are sick of us telling you to test first but trust us, it’s for good reason, so, test on a small hidden area first et cetera, et cetera.. you get the gist.

IMPORTANT: You have to be SUPER careful cleaning tiles! Tiles can be made so differently and have a variety of different textures, meaning Bar Keepers Friend is not suitable for all tiles. Check that your tile is suitable with BKF here.

Before you begin, remember that with any cleaning project, it’s always best to start off with the mildest cleaning solution first.

Instructions:
Step 1: Scrub dirty grout using plain water and a tough bristle brush to loosen excess dirt/grime. If you do not have a tough bristle brush on hand, check out our Tile & Grout brush.

Step 2: Apply Bar Keepers Friend onto the grout. Start with the gentler options, the MORE Spray & Foam or Soft Cleanser and stepping up to the Powdered Cleanser if need be.

Step 3: Get Scrubbing! Some elbow grease may be needed here.

Step 4: Rinse thoroughly within one minute of application. This is so important! Leaving BKF on too long may cause discolouration or staining.

Step 5: Dry with a soft cloth or towel.

*For the purposes of BKF non-coloured grout is all grout that is white, cream or lighter coloured. Some lighter coloured grout can appear brownish prior to cleaning.
