Taps, shower heads, towel racks, hinges - and that's just indoors! Chrome is super common as a durable option for many household items. When clean, chrome can look shiny appealing, however chrome can have the opposite effect when covered with mineral deposits and/or limescale.
Product recommendations for chrome differ depending on the state in which the surface is in...and as always, TEST!! Test in a small area first and rinse thoroughly.
For a General Clean (little to no limescale or mineral deposits)
We recommend Bar Keepers Friend MORE Spray & Foam as our gentlest formula, this is also a good place to start if unsure or if you have not used BKF on this type of surface before.
What you'll need:
- Bar Keepers Friend MORE Spray & Foam
- Scrub Daddy or Light-grade pad
- Dry cloth (lint free)
Instructions:
Step 1: Spray directly onto the chrome surface if possible, otherwise spray your pad or sponge. We recommend a light-grade pad or Scrub Daddy rinsed with lukewarm water for best results.
Step 2: Clean! Scrubbing in small circles works best.
Step 3: Rinse well, then use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down and shine the surface.
Step 4: Job done!
For a Tougher Job (moderate to heavy limescale and/or mineral deposits)
We recommend Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser, as a step up from the MORE Spray & Foam, the Soft Cleanser is a great option for most metal alloys.
What you'll need:
- Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser
- Scrub Daddy or Light-grade pad
- Dry cloth (lint free)
Instructions:
Step 1: Rinse Scrub Daddy or light-grade pad in water.
Step 2: Apply Soft Cleanser to pad or sponge.
Step 3: Scrub in small circles - some elbow grease may be required.
Step 4: Rinse surface well, removing any product residue.
Step 5: With a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the surface.
